Long week...
Well, happy Friday everyone!This has definitely been one of those LONG weeks... and really it was just 5 days - what the heck? I guess that's what I get for having a 4 day week the week before... man, how I wish every week was only 4 days long.
Last weekend, we had a great visit with the Edgren side of the family. I always forget how loud those parties can get... many adults talking and many children screaming = a good time for all! The only upset of the day was when Sam's little cousin Jack managed to tear open his ear on a granite counter top, with 5 stitches to follow. There were some tears, but he's going to be okay!
This week was a long one, as mentioned before. Not much out of the ordinary happened, so not much to blog about. I did have a very lovely visitor on Thursday and we had lunch together and got to catch up with each other, just the two of us. Thank you Kelly!
This weekend's rundown:
Saturday - hair cut & color (so excited!) and some basketball games (Sam's cousin Jack has some games in Salem this weekend)
Sunday - church and a drive up to Sandy for a family Superbowl party at the Morgan's home.

25 Things
My aunt tagged me on Facebook and I loves me some cheesey "forwards" so I had to fill it out. I know of a few who read my blog and aren't on Facebook, so I thought I'd post my 25 Things list here too. Enjoy!
1. I was born in Santa Barbara and only lived there for less than 2 years, but feel a strong connection to the city and LOVE being there.
2. I love looking at pictures of when I was little, especially of me and my Papa, my dad's dad.
3. When I was little, I knew what shows were on what channel on what nights - my parents called me The Walking TV Guide.
4. The first puppy my family bought, I instantly wanted to name him Blue Flower - sadly, my parents said no for the first name, but let me use it as a middle name.
5. I have totaled 2 cars in the 7 years I've been driving... oops.
6. When I met my Sam for the first time, I never imagined he'd sweep me off my feet and make me happier than I ever thought I could be.
7. My brothers & I have some great memories of our summers in New Hampshire.
8. When I met my in-laws for the first time, I was scared silent and couldn't talk at all.
9. I now LOVE my in-laws as if they were my own parents!
10. Plus, I now have 2 older brothers and my first SISTER! What a package deal!
11. Finding something I've been wanting on sale is a great day for me.
12. I had to have my ears pierced at age 6, but now rarely where earrings ever.
13. As impersonal as it is, I would rather e-mail than use the phone.
14. The older I get, the more I realize how similar my mom and I are.
15. I've never broken a bone, but have had over 8 years of braces.
16. I aim to please... my parents are first on the list.
17. I am quite shy when I first meet someone, but I eventually warm up.
18. When I'm alone in the car, I sing along to the radio at the top of my lungs.
19. I LOVE my friends, most of the time more than I can express.
20. Tears (both good & bad) are a common occurrence for me.
21. I am scared & excited to have children some day.
22. Please wait at least 5 years to see/hear about said future children.
23. I'm forever thankful to my college roommate & Best Friend Kelly for all that she taught me.
24. I love being married to Sam!

Uneventful day gone wrong...
With a 3-day weekend ahead of us, Sam and I were excited to have a weekend at home. So far it's been more eventful than we anticipated...
We slept in this morning and got moving around 10am. Our first stop for the day was an oil change. No surprises there and we were on our way. Then we made a quick stop at Target, followed by a delicious lunch at Red Robin. After lunch, we made a stop at Old Navy and then headed down the road to Winco to do our grocery shopping. Everything still as we thought... oh, wait, just kidding - as we were backing out of our parking spot, we were hit from behind. We had looked both ways (twice!) and were looking clear, but suddenly the car behind us decided to go too and did not hear our honking as we tried to let them know we were right behind them. To make a long story short, Sam and I are fine, and my little Beetle came out with a few scratches, but lesson we learned is that the lady that hit us probably shouldn't be driving AT ALL! We came home and called our insurance company, but don't think anything will come of it. Who knows... Later, we made a stop at the Weather's home to see Kristi's new decorations in her front room and play a little Guitar Hero (for Sam and Charles).
After being shaken up a little bit, I'm hoping for a relaxing Sunday and Monday with Sam. Good luck to me!

We are so spoiled!
Ta da! Our Wedding dresser!Sam's dad, Phil, has a lot of amazing talents, woodworking being one of them, and look what we have to show off his hard work. I can't stop looking at it... it's perfect! It's exactly what I would have wanted to get had I went to a store and picked it out, except I didn't have to go pick it out, it was just made for us! Yes, we are spoiled!
Phil and Donna, thank you for our beautiful present! We love you guys!

This weekend's theme has been visitors!
On Saturday, Sam woke up and headed to work (to put in a few hours of overtime) and I got ready for a day full of baby shopping with some friends from Bend, James and Michelle. I met Michelle when we worked together at Mid Oregon Credit Union in Bend. It took a few months, but now I'd call her a lifelong friend! Michelle even helped "coordinate" my wedding and did a spectacular job. A few months after I left Bend, James and Michelle found out they were pregnant and couldn't have been happier. And right before Christmas, they found out their baby was a little boy! As my first friend who's having a baby, I couldn't be more excited. Since Central Oregon has limited shopping, a trip over here was necessary! We went to the Woodburn Outlets and over to Clackamas and came back with some good purchases. Items off their list: carseat, stroller, crib, dresser, and a few clothing items. I love shopping with other people's money =) We finished the day off with a meal at Olive Garden. Sam joined up with us and we had a good time, with the exception of our service. The food was delicious, but the wait was not.
On Sunday, Sam and I woke up and got ready for church. After church, we were greeted by Sam's brother, Matt, and Sam's parents, Phil and Donna. They were delivering our "Wedding Dresser" (pictures to come...), among a few other items. They also brought Papa Murphy's pizza and we layed around and played Pinocle. Sam's dad and brother beat Sam and I, but it was a pretty close game. It's always nice to spend time together and host them at our house.
We enjoyed the visitors we had this weekend. Who wants to come next?

Deja vu? Yeah, that's what I thought too. As previously mentioned, another "crack" appeared in my window on Saturday and I hoped it was a stress crack from the NEW windshield that was put in last Wednesday (yes, less than a week ago...), but I was wrong. That's right everyone, I got another crack in my windshield - so mad! Actually, when I took it into get it checked, I began to cry when he told me it was a crack from the tiniest chip I've ever seen... probably the size of a ball point, that small! Anyways, I cried and have to take it back in on Wednesday, but hopefully for a much lower price than the first since we just got it replaced on Wednesday. Still pretty upset about it...
In other news, I started a new job today!I am now employed by the Salem-Keizer School District as an Accounting Clerk and I'm really excited to get past the training and actually begin working. I feel like this will really benefit me, career-wise, but right now I will be learning a lot before I get the complete hang of it.
Quick shoutout - Thank you to all my family & friends who have prayed and supported me while I've searched for this job. I love you all!

Where has the weekend gone??
Ever since the New Year Eve, life feels like it's been racing by.
Friday was my last day at West Coast Bank. That's probably all I'll say about that... Friday night brought Sam and I home to hang out and relax (my favorite) and we made our "To Do" list for Saturday... boy, we both felt a little overwhelmed.
On Saturday, we got up bright and early to get a start on our list. I was bringing boxes down to complete the big task on the list - Christmas - when my feet slipped out from underneath me and I flew down the stairs. Ow, my bum! I stayed on the stairs for a good couple minutes before trying to move. The wind was knocked out of me and my body felt like it had landed on a pile of rocks. Once I gained movement, we went on with our list. By 4pm, our list was completed, with the exception of one item Sam had wanted to do. Then I hit the road to Newberg to see Bethany one last time before she went back down to California again. On my way over, I noticed a line on my windshield and instantly began to freak out - Another crack in my NEW windshield? What the heck? When I got to Newberg, I assessed the crack and noticed that it is located inside the windshield, which leads me to believe it is a flaw in the windshield... I hope! With nothing I could do about my windshild, hanging out with Bethany, Rachel, and Kiersten was in order. We went to Sandwich Express and played Quelf. We also had a lot of laughs and a few tears. I hate saying good-bye to friends, especially my bests, but life takes us down different roads - boo!
Today, Sunday, we went to church and lunch at Applebees with the Weathers. We always have a good time with those two and it goes by too fast! Since we've been home, lots of laying around has been going on. My body is still hurting from my fall yesterday, so not moving is really nice.
Tomorrow is a big day... New Year, New Job. More to come...

Who knew ripping down plaster and cleaning out garages would lead to a life-long friendship - not me! 3 years has taken us far - from New Orleans to Global Night Commute to India to the Farm to the Wedding and beyond... Love this girl, forever!
Currently, B is working with a non-profit called Invisible Children down in California, which is a dream come true for her! When I met B, she was already heavily involved in raising awareness for IC, which always stuck around in her mind & heart. Last summer, just a few days before the Wedding, B got a call from IC asking her for an interview for a Roadie position. Of course she was chosen and spent the last 4 months traveling the Deep South, promoting this awesome cause. Now, she's been asked to head up a national event that will take place in only 4 cities across the United States - too cool!
I can't say enough about my friends. They are A-MAZING! I feel honored and inspired by these strong, beautiful women. I couldn't ask for a better group of friends!

Happy New Year!
We rang in the New Year in Eugene, Oregon at my best friend Kelly's beautiful farm. Her mom has spent the last 2+ years building her dream home and there is finally an end in site. It truly an amazing home and we enjoyed every part of it.The party began some time around 9pm and was still going when we left at 1am. There were drinks, food and an awesome chocolate fountain. Plus a cool sound system and some karaoke. All the makings for a perfect New Years Eve.
My main motive for making the drive down was for these 3 women.My girls...all together...in one room...for a few hours.
All I needed to ring in the New Year!

Lastly, my dates for the night - husband, Sam, and brother-in-law, Matt.Matt had a box of fireworks at his apartment that he brought to the party and they were a hit! The farm was a perfect place to set them off because there were wide open spaces and clear skies.
Sam and I took Matt home around 1am and then made the drive back to Salem. It was definitely one of the harder drives (due to the time of night/tired from a long day at work), but we made it home around 2:30am and hit the hay right away.
Today, we've spent our New Years Day cleaning out our office. Dinner tonight is Homemade Baked Potato Soup and Fresh Sourdough Bread - can't wait!
