Summer of Weddings

It is complete wedding mode over on Sam’s side of the family right now. Between May & July, there has been/will be three bridal showers, bachelor & bachelorette parties, plus two weddings*. Neither of these upcoming nuptials are new to this blog (see here & here), but as a forewarning, please be prepared for a few more wedding-related posts in the next couple months since my life will be sort of be full of it all!

This weekend we crossed one of the above events off our list – Matt & Krista’s couples shower!

My SIL graciously opened her home for the party & (with a little help from me) organized food, games, & a devotional for the blissful pair. It wasn’t anything fancy, but more about the couple & those there to show their support for them. And I think I can say they were very blessed throughout the entire day!

{don't worry, there was more food, it just hadn't arrived yet}

{The game - shower gift BINGO}

{The happy couple!}

*My best friend/maid of honor is also getting married this summer (August), which adds another bridal shower, bachelorette weekend, & wedding to the calendar :)

OOTD 5.20.10 - Neutrals

Headband: Forever 21
Tee: Eddie Bauer
Pants: Gap
Wedges: Steve Madden

A couple months ago, Kaleigha posted about how popular the nude, blush, & neutral colors are this year and when I put these {simple} pieces together, I will admit I immediately felt a little trendy. Even if it was just in a tee & trousers :).

Friends + Photography

= A winning combination!

Meet the Morells. To put it simply, this couple has played an integral role in my life during college & since!

First, they were the leaders on my {life-altering} trip to New Orleans.

Then, they were there supporting us when we did crazy things (like sleeping outside in Pioneer Square for a night, all for the sake of Invisible Children).

There were also many nights of karaoke & themed parties thrown by these two.

And while they couldn’t make it to our wedding (with a good excuse – traversing in Spain), they did take the time to call me & let me know they were thinking of me – a gift I will never forget!

So, when my BIL & SIL-to-be were looking for a photographer for their wedding this summer, the Morell duo immediately popped into my head. Fast forward a few months and the two couples have now met, hit it off, & booked the date! Personally, I couldn’t be happier that this new venture will be capturing the love & happiness that will take place on July 18!

And as a thank you for the referral (although completely unnecessary), Jon & Rachel offered to take a few “family” pictures for us. Here's a sneak peak, but to see a few more, head over to their blog & check us (+ the pups) out!

Field Trip: Napa

As I mentioned here, I recently jetted off for a little birthday weekend away in celebration of my lovely mom! With only the destination set in stone (Napa, CA), all the minor plans just fell into place to make a memorable weekend for all who attended (my mom, my surrogate "aunties" - Cindy & Christine, and myself).

Instead of boring you with all the details, I thought I'd just mention some highlights (+ pictures) that made the weekend exactly what it was.

*I have been flying since I was a little baby & even took my first solo trip to my grandma's house on a plane at age 5, so to say I like to fly is an understatement. Love it!

*Remember our sweet little flower girl? Well, she's now three years old & even more fun to hang out with. Check out how excited she was to see me!

*Because we were having ourselves a little "girls weekend", we did as any normal girls should do - get pampered!

*Our meals were definitely high on my highlight list because all the food we had was delicious! Yum... makes me a little hungry just thinking about it again.

*Along the same lines as the previous highlight, I found myself the cutest cupcake shop I've ever seen - behold the cuteness of Kara's Cupcakes! The smores cupcake I had was to die for!

*I could probably write a whole post on the Napa Valley Wine Train, however, to keep it short I will just say that if you go to Napa, this is definitely an awesome way to spend the evening! How can you go wrong with food, drinks, & beautiful views of Napa wineries?

Other things not pictured: lots & lots of shopping!

Many, many thanks to these three beautiful women! This weekend was definitely one for the books & I can't wait for the next "big event" to come around so we can do it all over again!

Away...

(photo from here)

While I'm off celebrating my mom's 50th birthday in Napa this weekend, I thought I'd leave you with a few posts that have peaked my interest this week:

Love this post on living in the moment.

Some pretty purses to look at.

And a great DIY tutorial for a tank dress (which I'm trying immediately upon my return -- stay tuned!).

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Recap

Our busy, but fun weekend included:

*Having Charles & Kristi over for dinner, then to see Iron Man 2 (in honor of Sam's birthday).

(picture from Kristi's masters graduation)

*Co-hosting a shower for Sam's cousin Jessica's upcoming wedding.

(getting ready to announce the shower game)

*Sam taking some fun engagement shots of Matt & Krista.

(the amazing couple!)

*Celebrating Sam's birthday once more with a weenie roast & some family time.

(the weenie roast)

(one of Sam's birthday presents - the book, not the dog)

*Staying up late talking with my in-laws (both happy & sad tears were involved).

*Honoring the mothers on Sam's side of the family with a potluck lunch & delicious desserts.

(the "mom" pie I made)

Another weekend full of memories & fun. Can't wait for the next (which isn't too far off)!

Because it's Monday...

And we had a busy weekend (recap coming soon), I have decided to focus on finding a new summer bag.

The Plaits & Knots Tote from Anthropologie is the top contender right now & might just be the one for me!

What do you think?

OOTD - Two in One

Necklace: gift from Costa Rica
Tee: Ann Taylor Outlet
Shorts: Abercrombie
Flats: Privo
(Picture taken by my husband, who was home today because it's his birthday - Happy Birthday Sam!)

I picked up this shirt on clearance last weekend, when shopping with my MIL & SIL, and I can already tell it will be getting a lot of use in my wardrobe. I will also come out and say I think I'm early on the official start of wearing white pants, but today (5.7.10) is suppose to be beautiful, so I'm wearing them anyways.

Dress: Gap
Belt: Anthropologie
Sandals: Forever 21

And here is what I wore yesterday (5.6.10) for our family pictures. A couple who I have known for years is starting up a photography business and as a 'thank you' for recommending them to my BIL & SIL-to-be for their upcoming wedding, they came to take some pictures of us and our pups. I can't wait to see how they turned out!

OOTD 5.5.10

Necklace: Macy*s
Sweater: Ann Taylor Loft
Tank: Downeast Basics
Skirt: J.Crew
Sandals: Target

Today's outfit is fairly simple (as usual), but I am wearing a few items that don't make it out often - the skirt & tank top. And now looking at the pieces on, I realize I should wear both a little more :)

I also want to rave about my new favorite sandals a little. They are comfortable, cute, and were cheap! Plus they resemble Seychelles' Get Outta Town flat, which I've had my eye on for a while now. I love them!

And one last thing: while most are celebrating Cinco de Mayo today, I have always associated this day with my mom's birthday. So a big Happy Birthday to my wonderful mom! Woot!

Happy First Birthday Levi!

Remember when I posted about this baby coming into the world? Well, he is turning 1 today!

To be honest, I have felt a connection with Levi since before he was born. His mom, Michelle, and I would talk every day and as her excitement & nerves built, so did mine! I helped plan Michelle's baby shower & was actually in Bend the day he was born, therefore able to be one of the first people to meet this precious baby boy!

Happy First Birthday Levi!

I can't believe it was a year ago when I met you for the first time, but boy have you grown! I can't wait to see you next & marvel at all the changes that have happened since!

Love,
"Auntie" Meaghan :)
